Themed as "Chinese dream, love for Mt. Qomolangma", the opening ceremony of 11th Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festival was held in Shigatse, Tibet, August 26, 2013.

The song and dance performance Silver mountain raised the curtain, which vividly showed the majestic Mt. Qomolangma by means of splendid dance and wonderful light effect.

The ceremony, with actors from many local folk art troupes, was divided into five scenes, including Silver mountain, Jade water, Highland barley sends off fragrance, Qangma, and Love for Mt. Qomolangma, among which the performance named The best holy wine pushed the ceremony to climax.

The six-day cultural tourism festival consists of 10 activities, such as the 1st Shigatse Tourism Promotion Song Concert, Tourism Development Seminar, 2nd "Beautiful Village Girls at Mt. Qomolangma" Tourism Image Ambassador Contest, and Mt. Shishabangma Hiking Activity.

"The cultural tourism festival this time , themed as 'Chinese dream, love for Mt. Qomolangma', fully displays the local ethnic culture, unique folk customs and abundant tourism resources in Shigatse," said Xiong Gangyi, head of Shigatse Prefecture Party Committee Organization Ministry.

As a main tourist destination in Tibet, Shigatse has a lot of natural and human landscapes including the famous Mt. Qomolangma, Tashilhunpo Monastery and Palkhor Chode Monastery; meanwhile, it is rich in cultural resources such as Shampa and Changgar traditional Tibetan opera.
