Langzhong City is located north of Sichuan Province, along the middle reaches of the Jialing River, a branch of the Yangtze River. The Langzhong Ancient County lies on the southern side of the city center, which is the only county in Sichuan province that has retained its original name and also one of the four best-preserved ancient cities and counties in China. With a history of over 2,000 years, Langzhong was named as a famous and historical town by the State Council in 1986.Surrounded by the Jialing River and beautiful mountain, Langzhong was hailed as a fairy land with enchanting scenery. Today the ancient county has still kept over hundreds of ancient streets, lanes and courtyards, as well as over twenty attractions in Tang and Song dynasty styles, covering an area of nearly 2 square kilometers. It has been reputed to be the "treasure of Chinese folk architecture". The Baba Temple is located on a small hill beyond the bus station of the County is known as the "Mecca of Oriental". You can also visit China's largest and best-preserved examination house of Qing Dynasty in Sichuan Province, the only folk Feng Shui museum in China and other excellent relics of ancient times.
Langzhong has deep roots in traditional culture. Legend has it that Hua Xu, the mother of Fu Xi who is the ancestor of the Chinese nation, was pregnant with Fu Xi in Langzhong. Langzhong is also the breeding place of Ba-Shu Culture and research center of Fengshui (the study of geomantic omens) in China.
