We had a wonderful time in Tibet. We have learned a lot about this unique destination because of the wonderful guide Degyi who is so knowledge and always available towards our tours. We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel Lhasa, and we would never imagine a Tibet travel could be so nice and amazing without the help of Degyi.
Also, thanks a lot to our Tibetan driver Mr.Wongdun for his safe driving and a good sense of service along the way.
We shall return Tibet in the near future!

Day01 Chengdu - Danba (L, D) Today you will drive to Danba. Danba is 1900 m locates at the east end of the Tibet Plateau. The local people are called Jiarong (Gyarong) Tibetans. It is said that they are the descendants of the people of the ancient Xixia Kingdom, who merged with the local people after they fled from Gansu and settled here. Danba has long been acclaimed as the Kingdom of Thousands of Ancient Blockhouses. Upon arrival Danba you will take photos at Suopo Village. They were made of clay and block and look fine from outside with solid thick walls. This night you will stay at a local Tibetan¡¯s home at Jiaju Village. | ||
Day02 Danba - Bamei (B, L, D)
In the morning take sunrise at Jiaju Village. Jiaju, 10 kilometers away from the county city, is one of the rare places in China that has preserved complete Tibetan style residences. More than one hundred buildings keep the same architectural style with a complete and unique character of Jiarong (Gyarong) Tibetan residences. Under the blue sky, the Tibetan residences decorated in red, white and black are strewed at random but also in order from the bottom to the middle slope of the valley. Leave Danba and drive along the Yak River to get to Bamei and visit Huiyuan Monastery once the 7th Dalai Lama, Kelzang Gyatso stayed here during his Lhasa voyage.
Day03 Bamei - Garze (B, L, D)
Drive to Garze via Luhuo and visit Chaggo Monastery and Garze Monastery, which are mighty and influential Gelupa tradition monasteries. On the way you will also take a short break by the lakeshore of Kasa Lake just by the main road.
Day04 Garze - Derge (B, L, D)
Leave for Derge, visit Yilhun Lhatso Lake and Derge Parkhang Scripture Printing House and Monastery. Yilhun Lhatso is located at the mountain foot of Chola (5,650m) and formed by the melted water from the mountain. There are lovely rocks carved with beautiful Mani Sutras by the shore. Derge Parkhang Scripture Printing House is the largest one of its kind in the whole Tibet and is often regarded as the "Treasure House for Tibetan Khampa Culture".
Day05 Derge - Chamdo (B, L, D)
Today you will bit farewell to Sichuan and get into TAR. The first hours in the morning will take you crossing the Golden Sand River and passing through several high passes, Khargang La (4,352 m), Lashi La (4,450 m), Jape La (4,680 m), and Tama La (4,511 m), with clutters of prayer flags waving in the wind on the peaks and friendly nomads waving at us from the grasslands. And in the afternoon reach Chamdo, Tibet's major town and the regional capital of East Tibet by the Mekong River.
Day06 Chamdo - Riwoche (B, L, D)
Visit Galden Jampaling Monastery before leaving for Riwoche. You will take a short Kora (Buddhist Circuit) at the Jampaling Monastery. Then you will drive to Riwoche (3810m), which means "mountain" in Tibetan language.
Day07 Riwoche - Dengchen (B, L, D)
Morning visit Riwoche Monastery and drive to Tengchen en route visit Tsedrup Monastery which is considered to be Tibet's largest Bon Monastery. The drive to Dengchen is quite tough, that gives you some real off-the-beaten experience.
Day08 Dengchen - Sok (B, L, D)
Today is a beautiful day as you will see the fabulous views of nomad camps and yak herds made tiny by the huge range of snowy peaks to the south, cross the stunning Shel-La (4830m) pass before arrival at Sok.
Day09 Sok - Nagqu (B, L, D)
Visit Sok Tsanden Monastery, and then head out for Nagqu, the regional capital and center in North Tibet. There is a large scale annual horse racing festival in Nagqu from Aug 10th - 17th each year that draws tens of thousands of visitors from all corners of Tibet.
Day10 Nagqu - Nam Tso (B, L, D)
Drive on the vast Qiangtang Grassland for Nam Tso Lake, Tibet's largest salty lake and one of the three most sacred lakes in Tibet, the other two being the Yamdrok Lake and the Manasarovar in Central and West Tibet. You can take a walk by the Nam Tso and seeing birds on the Tashi Dor.
Day11 Nam Tso - Lhasa (B, L, D)
Enjoy a splendid sunrise at Nam Tso. Then you will leave for Lhasa. Enjoy hotspring at Yangpachen. In the midafternoon you reach Lhasa and enjoy free time in the old town.
Day12 Lhasa (B, L, D)
Full day guided tour in Lhasa. You will visit the mighty Potala Palace, the landmark of Tibet and once served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lama. Visit Jokhang monastery, the holiest temple in Tibet, and take a walk tour on the holy Barkhor circuit. In addition, visit Remoche Monastery nearby the Yak Hotel. Overnight at your hotel
Day13 Lhasa (B, L, D)
One day tour around Lhasa to explore the holy Drepung monastery the sacred land of Gelug Sect, Norbulingka Park, the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama and the Sera Monastery to observe its famous monk debating. Overnight at hotel
Day14 Depart Lhasa (B)
Your guide and driver will transfer you to airport according to your flight schedule. End of your overland journey to Lhasa, Tibet.
