We had a wonderful time in Tibet. We have learned a lot about this unique destination because of the wonderful guide Degyi who is so knowledge and always available towards our tours. We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel Lhasa, and we would never imagine a Tibet travel could be so nice and amazing without the help of Degyi.

Also, thanks a lot to our Tibetan driver Mr.Wongdun for his safe driving and a good sense of service along the way.

We shall return Tibet in the near future!

Day01 Arrival ChengduChengdu Urban Area,China
Today you arrive in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Greeted and received by your local guide and escorted to your hotel in downtown Chengdu. The rest of day is at your own disposal.


Day02 Chengdu - Leshan - Mt.Emei (B, L, D)Leshan Grand Buddha,Sichuan,China
You will first of all be transferred to visit Giant Pandas at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Then you will leave for Mt.Emei (Emeishan). On the way you will visit famous Leshan Giant Buddha Statue. Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest Buddha in the world, about 71 meters high. It is a statue of Maitreya (a Bodhisattva usually represented as a very stout monk with a broad smile on his face and with his naked breast and paunch exposed to view) in sitting posture. It started to be carved in 713 A.D and finished 90 years later. Facing the river, the Buddha has symmetrical posture and looks which have been beautifully captured in its solemn stillness. It has three-meter-long (about 11 feet) fingers. The eight-meter-long (about 27 feet) instep is big enough for one hundred people to sit on and the 28-meter-wide (about 92 feet) shoulder is large enough to be a basketball playground. You will be astonished by its grace. You will visit Buddhist Linyun Temple which was created in the Chinese Tang Dynasty locates on the hilltop nearby the Giant Buddha Statue. Afterwards take a boat cruise on the Min River (Minjiang) to observe the Giant Buddha from a floating perspective. Transfer to Mt.Emei and visit Baoguo Temple, the largest Buddhist temple at the foot of Mt.Emei.


Day03 Mt.Emei (B, L, D)Mt.Emei,Sichuan
A full day guided tour on Mt.Emei. Table green car and cable ride up to the Golden Summit of Mt.Emei, see monkeys en route, admire gilded statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva on the mountain top. Mount Emei (Emeishan) lies 170km southwest of Chengdu is one of the four mountain ranges in China that Buddhists consider sacred. Together with Leshan Giant Buddha, Mt. Emei was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1996. The mountain stretches more than 200 kilometers from south to north. Its main peak, Wanfo Summit, is 3,099 meters above sea level. Since ancient times Emei Mountain has been described as "Beauty Under Heaven". Temples were built as early as the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) and Buddhism was introduced to the mountain during the Jin Dynasty. In the Ming and Qing dynasties there were more than 150 temples on it. Mt. Emei draws the most attention for its 154-kilometer spread, attracting tourists since ancient times with phenomenal views all the year round. You will take cable car to Wannian Temple (Temple of Longevity), walking through scenic spots of Qingyin Pavilion and One-Thread-Sky etc. The Wannian Temple (Temple of Longevity) which sits 1,043 meters above sea level, was built in the 4th century. It was burned several times in the following centuries. The present brick building was reconstructed in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). The Brick Hall, a domed building with small stupas on it, was built of bricks. In the hall is a statue of the Bodhisattva. Puxian on a white elephant, 8.5 meters high, cast in copper and bronze.


Day04 Mt.Emei - Hailuogou (B, L, D)Sichuan - Tibet Highway at Mt.ErlangShan
This morning you will be driven to Hailuogou Glacier Park via Ya'an City. You will drive to mountain areas and altitude will gradually rise up. There are photo opportunities at the mountain valley along the road zigzagging up the Erling Mountain Pass. The river valley is deep. Later in the day you will check in your hotel nearby the Hailuogou Glacier Park in Moxi Town.

 
Day05 Hailuogou - Kangding (B, L, D)Red Rock Shoal,Hailuogou,Sichuan
Enjoy your half day excursion in the Hailuogou Glacier Park. Located on the eastern side of Gonggar Mountain, 319km southwest of Chengdu and 105km south of Kangding, Hailuogou (Conch Gully) National Glacier Forest Park is the biggest glacier park in China, famous for its low altitude modern glaciers, which are rarely found either in low-latitude places or at low altitude. You will take a tour bus to Camp2 and from where you can take a walking through dense woods to Camp3 to admire the glaciers, ice caves and ice waterfalls etc. In the afternoon you will take bus down the park and driven to Kangding via the Red Rock Shoal. Day06 Kangding - Xinduqiao (B, L, D)Xinduqiao Scenery,Kangding,Sichuan
This morning you will have a leisure walk to the nearby free market in town, then you will take an excursion to Muge Tso Lake. Muge Tso Lake is also called as the "wild man lake", which is approx. 35km away from Kangding. The lake is noted for its amazing fusion of snowy peaks, alpine lake, hotspring, forests and meadows. In the afternoon you will drive to Xinduqiao, a small town famous for its fabulous natural sceneries in fall.

 
Day07 Xinduqiao - Danba (B, L, D)Holy Yala Mountain from Tagong Grasslands,Sichuan
Leave in the morning for Danba. On the way at Tagong Grasslands and visit Lhagang Monastery, a famous Nyingmapa monastery built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to commemorate the Han Princess Wencheng and Phags-pa, the Grand State Tutor of Tibetan Buddhism with Buddhism Institute inside, also named as "the small Lhasa Jokhang Monastery", is one of the 108 temples built during the reign of Songtsen Gampo in ancient Tibetan times. There is a sacred statue of 12-year old sakyamuni (Buddha) in the monastery, which have been brought by Princess Wenchen on her way to Lhasa. Then you will take photos to the Yala Mountain from a higher terrace at Tagong. Leave for Danba and on the way you have photo stop to have a better view to holy Yala Mountain. Drive along the Yak River and get to Danba in the early afternoon. Danba is 1900 m locates at the east end of the Tibet Plateau. The local people are called Jiarong (Gyarong) Tibetans. It is said that they are the descendants of the people of the ancient Xixia Kingdom, who merged with the local people after they fled from Gansu and settled here. Danba has long been acclaimed as the Kingdom of Thousands of Ancient Blockhouses. Upon arrival Danba you will take photos at Suopo Village. They were made of clay and block and look fine from outside with solid thick walls. This night you will stay at a local Tibetan's home at Jiaju Village.


 
Day08 Danba - Rilong (B, L, D)Ancient Towers,Danba,Sichuan
In the morning take sunrise at Jiaju Village. Jiaju, 10 kilometers away from the county city, is one of the rare places in China that has preserved complete Tibetan style residences. More than one hundred buildings keep the same architectural style with a complete and unique character of Jiarong (Gyarong) Tibetan residences. Under the blue sky, the Tibetan residences decorated in red, white and black are strewed at random but also in order from the bottom to the middle slope of the valley. Leave Danba and drive to Rilong nearby the Four Sisters Mountain. You will take a tour bus into the Double Bridge Gully beneath the Four Sisters Mountain. Standing on the borderline of Xiaojin and Wenchuan in Western China's Sichuan Province, Siguniang Shan offers some of China's most pristine and less visited mountain sceneries. The highest peak of Four Sisters Mountain is the 6,250 meters Yaomei Feng (peak of the youngest sister).


 
Day09 Rilong - Chengdu (B, L, D)BaLangShan,Sichuan,China
Leave in the morning for Chengdu, and on arrival you can enjoy a hotpot dinner in Chengdu.


 
Day10 Depart Chengdu (B)
Free till transferred to airport for your departure flight. End of your Overland Journey in West Sichuan.
